A Baha’i resident of Shiraz was kidnapped, tortured and abused by unknown people.

HRA- The Bahai’ rights committee of HRA reports that Mr. Ruhollah Rezaei, a 46-years-old Baha'i citizen living in Shiraz, was stopped by unknown individuals while returning home to his wife and two children after leaving the gas station early morning on October 30. He was kidnapped and taken to an unknown location, where he was threatened, insulted and hung by rope in a show execution. The kidnappers then undressed him despite the severe cold and burnt various parts of his hands, chest and forehead by cigarette and left him in roads outside Shiraz.

It should be mentioned that Mr Rezaei had been sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment earlier in 1981 at the age of 18 and spent his sentence in Shiraz Adelabad Prison. He has undergone very harsh situations and had to tolerate severe mental and physical pressures only because of his faith.
