The judge from the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court extended Fariba Pajooh’s remand, ruling out objections made by her lawyer.

HRA- The prisoners’ rights unit of HRA reports that Pajooh’s remand extension comes at a time when the detained journalist has been left inside her Evin cell and has not been interrogated for days.

Yesterday, the defense lawyer, Mina Jaffari argued before the judge all the legal grounds which make her client’s further detention unjustifiable. Despite all the efforts made by her lawyer, Pajooh remains detained in Evin. Her continued detention has had a devastating effect on her physical and psychological well being.

Fariba Pajooh was arrested on August 22nd, 2009 and has been detained in Evin since. She has yet to be officially charged but judiciary officials and her interrogators adamantly want to keep her in jail. This has led to questions over the real motive behind their insistence, which could very well be to fabricate false charges against Pajooh.
